aïcha's table

Welcome to Aïcha's table where artistry meets functionality in a delightful fusion of cultural symbolism and modern design. The collection was built around the belief that a meal is never just a meal. Working closely with the founder, I illustrated each piece in the collection. Each plate a translation of her vision of warmth, togetherness, and the quiet magic of shared food into something you could hold in your hands. Three collections, all launched at Cairo Food Week. The third collection sold out on the first day.

The first collection

The first collection draws inspiration from the ancient talisman of the evil eye, with cool blues and greens symbolising protection and tranquility. The evil eye or 'Al‑ayn' in Arabic is one of the oldest protective symbols in Egyptian and Arabic culture, worn and displayed for thousands of years as a ward against harm and ill intent. Each plate carries the symbol not as an ornament but with intention. The palette moves between deep cobalt and sage, grounding each piece in something both ancient and immediate. A collection about the things we carry with us without always knowing why.

The second collection

The second collection embraces a minimalist aesthetic, built around bold black and white abstract shapes and lines. It was important to create a collection that was without colour, to let the shapes and lines speak for themselves. Where the first collection carried the weight of ancient symbol and history, this one moves lighter. A collection about reduction that still lives in maximalism.

The third collection

The third collection celebrates the beauty of women and nature, in serene blues with delicate hints of pink. Where the first collection reached into ancient symbol and the second stripped everything back, this one turns to the figurative with soft forms and flowing lines. Each plate carries something that feels like a portrait, though no face is ever fully shown. A collection rooted in femininity and nature.
