Orka
For this edition of Orka, I drew inspiration from my two homes, Egypt and Iceland. A meeting point between the ancient Egyptian sun god and the Icelandic celebration of the sun's return during February. The illustration brings dancing figures together in a moment of shared rejoicing, with the sun at their centre. A can to celebrate the light wherever you are.
My illustration style grew out of my tattoo designs, where line does all the work with no colour to fall back on. Over the years that's developed into something distinctly my own: dynamic, flowing line that bring life and motion to minimal pieces. The sketches for Orka came from that same instinct, the idea to create something minimal enough to live on a can and still alive on the shelf.
